In the year 2018, the Ministry of Education (MoE) through MoE's Innovation Cell (MIC) launched the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) program in collaboration with AICTE for Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) to systematically foster the culture of innovation and start-up ecosystem in education institutions.
Primarily, IICs' role is to engage large number of faculty, students and staff in various innovation and entrepreneurship related activities such as ideation, Problem solving, Proof of Concept development, Design Thinking, IPR, project handling and management at Pre-incubation/Incubation stage, etc., so that innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem gets established and stabilized in HEIs.
The primary focus of an Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) is to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within higher education institutions (HEIs). This involves creating a vibrant local innovation ecosystem, supporting student startups, and preparing institutions for the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements framework.

On October 24, 2024, the Institution’s Innovation Council at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi campus, organized a hands-on workshop titled "MININET: Playground for SDN". The session, led by Aldrin Benny and supported by faculty and volunteers, introduced 60 participants to Software-Defined Networking (SDN) using Mininet through practical experiments. The event aimed to build foundational knowledge and inspire further interest in network programming.

Round Structure: • Round 1: Participants individually created logos using Photopea or Paint within a 30-minute time limit. Judges shortlisted the participants. • Round 2: The shortlisted participants designed a logo based on a given topic, again within 30 minutes. The top two designs were selected.
